ABOUT WILL

 

Will Newman is a twenty-two year old from Asheville, North Carolina, who has been playing music since he was five years old, writing since he was seven, and producing since he was fourteen.

Will’s many musical adventures have included:

  • Opening for the Blues Brothers when he was ten years old
  • Performing with Michael McDonald and members of Snarky Puppy and Vulfpeck at the OkeeChobee Arts and Music Festival
  • Growing up in the Asheville music scene, starting bands such as Jazz the Ripper and The Source, and performing with StephaniesidThe Archrivals, and Ruby Slippers
  • Member of the 2015 Downbeat awardwinning American Music Ensemble during his time at Frost School of Music

Though primarily a piano player, Will is a multi-instrumentalist, and trained in multiple genres and media.  He received an undergraduate degree in Media Writing and Production from the University of Miami Frost School of Music, with minors in Music Business and Creative American Music in 2017.  He currently resides in Nashville, and goes back and forth between there, Los Angeles, his hometown of Asheville, and his alma mater collaborating and outputting material made available on this website.
